What is GDPR and does it apply to the Harmonization Newsletter?

The GDPR applies to Harmonization: Newsletter in the Social Sciences. According to the EC: “Regulation (EU) 2016/6791, the European Union’s (‘EU’) new General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’), regulates the processing by an individual, a company or an organisation of personal data relating to individuals in the EU…. What is personal data?

According to the EC: “Personal data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable living individual… It also doesn’t matter how the data is stored – in an IT system, through video surveillance, or on paper; in all cases, personal data is subject to the protection requirements set out in the GDPR.” https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/reform/what-personal-data_en

How do we secure your data?

  • We secure your Personal data related to the Harmonization: Newsletter in the Social Sciences in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679/WE and the Polish “Rozporządzenie o Ochronie Danych Osobowych (RODO)” concerning  the protection of individuals with regard to processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.
  • The administrator of your personal data is the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Nowy Świat 72 ,00-330 Warsaw.
  • The Institute of Philosophy and Sociology PAS has appointed a Data Protection Inspector. They can be contacted by telephone at: +48-22 6572721, or by e-mail at iod@ifispan.waw.pl.
  • We process your personal data on the basis of your voluntary consent (art 6 pt 1 GDPR). You can withdraw your consent any time by sending an e-mail message to harmonization.newsletter@gmail.com
  • We will process your data until the time that you withdraw your consent or the purpose for which your data is processed has been achieved (whichever is sooner).
  • You have the right to make a complaint to the Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data, if you believe that processing of your personal data violates the provisions set down in the regulation of 27/04/2016 (GDPR).
  • We will not make your data available to others. Your data will not be transferred to third countries or to international organizations.
  • You have the right of access to the content of your data; the right to the data’s correction, deletion, or limited processing; the right to transfer data; the right to object and the right to withdraw consent at any moment without influencing any legal processing conducted on the basis of your consent before it was withdrawn. Your consent may be withdrawn at any time by sending an e-mail message to iod@ifispan.waw.pl.
  • Your data will not be profiled or processed by automatic means.
